How to use the Compound Interest Calculator

Choose a currency, then enter your starting balance, expected return, term and monthly contribution.

How it works

Compound growth means returns are added to the balance and can then earn further returns. This calculator combines a starting amount with regular monthly contributions and an assumed annual rate to illustrate how savings might grow over time.

Example: Try a £10,000 starting balance, £100 monthly contribution, 5% annual return and a ten-year term. Then compare the result with a lower return or shorter term to see how assumptions affect the projection.

What to keep in mind

Investment returns are not guaranteed and normally vary from year to year. This simplified projection does not deduct fees, tax, inflation or market losses. It is an educational estimate, not financial advice.

Frequently asked questions

Is the annual return guaranteed?

No. It is an assumption for comparing scenarios. Actual savings rates and investment returns may be higher or lower.

Does the result account for inflation?

No. The projected balance is shown in nominal money and does not estimate future purchasing power.
