Cooking Converter
Convert common recipe weights and volumes using ingredient-aware estimates.
How to use the Cooking Converter
Choose an ingredient, enter a quantity and select the source and destination cooking units.
How it works
Recipe volume-to-weight conversions depend on ingredient density. The converter uses practical estimates for several common ingredients rather than treating every cup as the same weight.
Example: One metric cup is 250 mL. A cup of water is estimated at 250 g, while a cup of plain flour is approximately 132.5 g using the selected density.
What to keep in mind
Scooping, packing, temperature, moisture and brand differences affect real weights. Use kitchen scales and a recipe author’s specified method when precision matters.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a cup weigh differently for each ingredient?
A cup measures volume, while grams measure mass; ingredients have different densities.
Which cup size is used?
The tool uses a 250 mL metric cup and 15 mL tablespoon.
