How to use the Sudoku Solver

Copy the starting numbers into the grid, leave unknown cells empty, and select Solve puzzle.

How it works

The Sudoku solver completes a standard 9×9 grid using the rule that every row, column and 3×3 box must contain the digits 1 through 9 without repetition.

Example: Copy only the puzzle’s given numbers into their matching cells and leave every unknown cell blank. The solver first checks the starting grid for direct conflicts before searching for a solution.

What to keep in mind

Some incomplete grids have multiple possible solutions. The tool returns a valid solution it finds, but does not currently prove uniqueness. A contradictory puzzle cannot be solved until the incorrect entry is corrected.
